The Snore and Sleep Center is staffed by a group of highly-skilled health care professionals working as a team to provide quality care for you. Thirteen members, including two registered polysomnographic technologists, work under the medical direction of Michael W. Wooley, M.D., FCCP and David A. Schenk, M.D., FCCP.

Dr. Wooley is a native Texan who has practiced pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine in San Antonio since 1979. He has been very active in the medical community, having served as chief of staff of St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital, Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital and Kindred Hospital. He has been director of the intensive care units at several area hospitals.
He is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care and is a member of the American Sleep Medicine Association. He has also been very active in the palliative care movement, which focuses on alleviating pain, and is board certified by the American Board of Palliative Care. He has been a leader in the medical community in setting standards of excellence for the care of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.

David A. Schenk, M.D., FCCP - Medical Director

A native of Chicago, Dr. Schenk is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and Tulane University School of Medicine. He relocated to Texas in 1978 and served as chairman of the Pulmonary / Critical Care Medicine Department at Wilford Hall Medical Center from 1987 until his retirement from the Air Force in 1993. Prior to retirement, Dr. Schenk was instrumental in establishing a sleep laboratory at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Dr. Schenk has published several papers on lung cancer staging. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.
